The Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges, Inc., through its Gender and Development (GAD) Office spearheaded by Roldan A. Dalanan, RSW, GAD Focal Person, under the supervision of Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Geraldine D. Rodriguez, successfully concluded the VAW-Free RMMC Advocacy Event with the theme β€œUnited for a VAW-Free Philippines: Advancing Equality, Empowering Women.” The event was held at the RMMC Theatre on December 15, 2025, in line with the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and pursuant to CHED Memorandum No. 06, Series of 2025. The gathering brought together RMMC administrators, office heads, college deans, program heads, faculty members, and students, standing not just as participants, but as allies united in their commitment to build a safe, respectful, and violence-free academic community. A VAW Awareness Booth was also set up in the lobby, giving students and visitors the chance to learn, engage, and take a stand against gender-based violence. More than a one-day event, the advocacy led to proposed institutional plans of action, including: 1. The creation of an Anti-Sexual Harassment (ASH) Committee within the institution to strengthen reporting mechanisms, accountability, and survivor-centered responses; 2. Integration of the Safe Spaces Act provisions into the interns’ manual to ensure student safety beyond the campus during field deployment; and 3. Planned Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) training for faculty to help them recognize and respond to students’ trauma, creating safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments. This is more than compliance; it is courage in action. With these initiatives, RMMC does not merely raise awareness; it chooses to protect, empower, and stand firm for a VAW-free Philippines. Ending violence is not a campaign. It is a commitment RMMC continues to uphold! #RMMCGensan #PassionforExcellence #CommitmenttoService #GenderandDevelopmentOfficer #VAWFreePH #VAWFreeRMMC #18DayCampainToEndVAWC
