RMMC Leads Coastal Clean-up Drive to Protect Marine Ecosystems the College of Arts & Sciences of Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges (RMMC), through its BS Environmental Science program, spearheaded the International Coastal Clean-up Day at Queen Tuna Park in General Santos City. The event brought together students, faculty, and community volunteers in a unified effort to combat marine pollution and protect coastal ecosystems. Participants collected substantial amounts of waste—particularly plastics and debris—helping restore the park’s natural beauty and reducing environmental hazards that threaten marine biodiversity. The initiative demonstrated the importance of collaboration and environmental responsibility in mitigating the impacts of pollution on both land and sea. Aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6, 12, 13, 14, and 15, the clean-up promoted responsible consumption, climate action, and the conservation of aquatic and terrestrial life. The event served as a powerful reminder of the interconnectedness between human actions and environmental health. Through this coastal clean-up activity, RMMC reaffirmed its dedication to nurturing environmentally conscious individuals committed to sustainability and ecological stewardship. The collective effort not only strengthened community engagement but also inspired continued advocacy for cleaner, healthier, and more resilient ecosystems.
