RMMC and LGU Gensan Unite for Tourism and Peace Forum The Campus Caravan: Tourism & Peace Forum was held at the ERM Theater in General Santos City, marking a significant collaboration between the Tourism Division of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of General Santos City and the Tourism and Hospitality Department of Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges (RMMC). The event formed part of the World Tourism Day celebration, centered on the global theme “Tourism and Peace.” The forum served as a vital platform for dialogue among various stakeholders, including representatives from the academe, local government, Department of Tourism, non-government organizations, and the Philippine National Police. Participants discussed the intersection of tourism and peace, exploring how the tourism industry can drive not only economic growth but also unity, social harmony, and resilience within communities. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), the event emphasized collaboration as a key to achieving sustainable and peaceful development. It highlighted tourism’s transformative role in peacebuilding by fostering understanding, cultural exchange, and shared prosperity.
