Summit of Arts and Culture Advocates Highlights Dance as Cultural Bridge the “Summit of Arts and Culture Advocates: When We Dance, We Live!” brought together students, educators, and leading figures in Philippine dance to celebrate the transformative role of the performing arts. Hosted via Zoom and streamed live at the ERM Theater, the event was organized for students from the Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAEd), Bachelor of Performing Arts, and members of the RMMC Sinaglaya. As part of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) initiative, the summit fostered dialogue on how dance can shape personal growth, preserve cultural heritage, and strengthen communities. Esteemed panelists Sir Biag Gaongen, Ma’am Ligaya Fernando Amilbangsa, and Ma’am Agnes Locsin shared their experiences as dancers, educators, and cultural advocates, offering insights into the vital connection between movement, identity, and resilience. Moderated by Prof. Angela Baguilat, the session inspired reflection on the power of dance as both a creative expression and a cultural legacy. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 (Quality Education), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), the summit highlighted RMMC’s dedication to promoting education, cultural sustainability, and global collaboration. By engaging students in meaningful exchanges with experts, the event enriched their academic experience and nurtured their potential as future leaders in the arts. The summit underscored how cultural preservation and artistic innovation can work hand in hand to build stronger, more vibrant communities.
