PASIGARBO: RMMC Festival of Arts, held from February 23 to 25, 2024, was a vibrant week-long celebration of creativity, culture, and community spearheaded by the RMMC Culture and Arts Affairs Office in partnership with the Student Services Office, the Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAEd) program, and the Performing Arts programs. Collaborating with SM City General Santos, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Kaisa sa Sining, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the festival marked RMMCโ€™s dynamic observance of National Arts Month. The festival served as a platform for artistic expression, featuring workshops, performances, and exhibitions that spanned visual and performing arts. Local socio-cultural groups and RMMCโ€™s own arts programs led the events, offering a vibrant space where artists and audiences engaged in creative exchange and cultural appreciation. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 (Good Health and Well-being), 4 (Quality Education), and 5 (Gender Equality), PASIGARBO 2024 demonstrated the transformative impact of the arts on education, wellness, and inclusivity. The event promoted mental and emotional well-being by fostering community connection and artistic expression (SDG 3), while also advancing quality education through hands-on learning opportunities in the arts (SDG 4). Additionally, it highlighted gender inclusivity by ensuring diverse participation across all artistic platforms (SDG 5). PASIGARBO 2024 stood as a testament to RMMCโ€™s ongoing commitment to cultural development, sustainability, and holistic education. By celebrating the arts and nurturing local talent, the festival strengthened cultural identity and underscored the essential role of the arts in achieving a more inclusive, creative, and resilient society.
