RMMC BCAEd Students Lead “Peace Museum” Curation with Philippine Army The Bulwagan ng Kapayapaan “Peace Museum” Curation Program, conducted from March to June 2024, showcased the collaboration between Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges (RMMC) and the Philippine Army 6th Infantry Division in promoting peace and cultural heritage. Fourth-year Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAEd) students participated in the hands-on museum curation and exhibition setup under the mentorship of Mr. Leonardo Rey S. Cariño, who designed and curated the Peace Museum. This experiential learning initiative, grounded in the program’s “Danas” or “Karanasan” pedagogy, allowed students to gain practical experience in cultural curation, exhibition design, and heritage preservation. By engaging directly in the setup process, students developed a deeper appreciation for the role of cultural institutions in shaping historical narratives and promoting peace through education. The program also aligned with multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Through this initiative, RMMC’s BCAEd students not only enhanced their academic and professional competencies but also contributed meaningfully to the preservation of cultural heritage and the promotion of peace within the community.
